Cleaning Your Blinds
Lightly dust every couple weeks or so and you’re set. Clean more thoroughly once or twice a year, following instructions for your particular blind. IMPORTANT: All recommended vacuuming of window treatments is with the upholstery attachment.
Horizontal Blinds • Faux Wood Blinds • Soft Vertical Blinds • Fabric Blinds
Lightly vacuum, then spot clean with a soft cloth or sponge, using mild soap and warm water. Be careful not to crush or wrinkle fabric blinds.
Wood Blinds
For painted and stained finishes, dust with a soft cloth. IMPORTANT: Never use water on wood blinds.
Vinyl Vertical Blinds
Remove vinyl vanes and soak them in water. You may also spot clean them with mild soap and water. To protect against static electricity, apply a thin layer of mild soap to each vane. IMPORTANT: Fabric vanes should not be soaked in water or dry cleaned.
Cleaning Your Shades
Clean shades monthly or quarterly by lightly vacuuming with the upholstery attachment. Deep clean them annually by following the instructions below. IMPORTANT: Always allow your shades to air dry completely before raising them.
Cellular Shades
Use a soft cloth or sponge to spot clean with mild soap and warm water. Wipe the area gently in the direction parallel to the fabric’s pleats until the stain is removed. Be careful not to crush or wrinkle the fabric. IMPORTANT: Do not use spot removers or strong soaps. Dry cleaning is not recommended.
Pleated Shades
Use a soft cloth or sponge to spot clean with mild soap and warm water. For deep stains or soil, contact a cleaner from the certified network of ultrasonic cleaners.
Classic Roman Shades
Before cleaning, remove the shade from the window. Fully open the shade and lay the fabric on a flat surface. Use a soft cloth or sponge to spot clean with mild detergent and warm water. IMPORTANT: Do not use spot removers or strong soaps. Dry cleaning and ultrasonic cleaning methods are not recommended.
Tailored Roman Shades
If your tailored Roman shades need a thorough cleaning, go to an experienced professional. Not all dry cleaners know how to clean shades safely and effectively, so be sure to ask. IMPORTANT: Fabric shades should not be washed or spot-cleaned with water, club soda, soaps, or cleansers.
Solar Shades ˙ Roller Shades
Small stains can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. IMPORTANT: Do not soak in water.
Natural Shades
Light vacuuming with a brush attachment is the best way to keep natural shades clean. IMPORTANT: Do not use water or liquid cleaners.
Cleaning Your Shutters
Dust or lightly vacuum your shutters regularly. IMPORTANT: Do not use water on wood shutters.
Cleaning Your Drapery
Use the upholstery attachment of your vacuum and regularly, gently vacuum your drapery. IMPORTANT: Never launder drapery yourself. Decorative fabrics are not meant to be washed. Spot cleaning with water, club soda, soaps, or cleansers is not recommended.
